Operations Director, Business Advisory, Consultancy, UK
I began my career as an accountant, before moving more into advisory work and finding myself increasingly in roles involving infrastructure and the public sector. I eventually left accounting to take on a role providing advisory services to local authorities’ and central government finance teams. Through this I was determined to help make positive change to the communities we serve.
After a few years, I found myself working within the transportation division at Atkins, where I served a wide range of clients including London Boroughs, the NHS and TfL. The more I became immersed in the world of transportation and Place, the more I became driven by the opportunity to make a tangible difference in local authorities and central government initiatives. I am passionate about Place, and how an holistic view can help shape economic, social and well being development for our communities.
For me, redefining ambition means making a direct impact on how communities live, work, and play together. It's not just about dreaming big; it's about leveraging our capabilities across our various engines to craft tangible solutions that transform communities. Our commitment to responsible business is ingrained in every decision we make and this helps me get out of bed every morning, inspired to try to make a difference.
What motivates me every day is the opportunity to learn, listen, and contribute value in everything I do. The tangible impact Mace makes on the places we serve, and the lives of the people within them, is what truly excites me about my role.
Having lived in London since 1998, and having raised my children here, the capital is really important to me and I have a personal interest in making things better. I think London is a great city. Whether you’re working, learning, or taking in the sights and culture, it’s a true capital and I want it to continue to succeed at being a global centre of excellence. My role at Mace allows me to play a part in that.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, including our dog, Mac. As a die-hard fan of Wolverhampton Wanderers, my passion for football runs deep. It keeps me connected to my roots in Wolverhampton and provides endless excitement as a season ticket holder alongside my family.
Beyond sports, I am deeply committed to giving back to the community through my roles as a scout leader and a school governor. Being able to make a positive impact outside of work brings me immense joy and I am grateful for the chance to contribute to the well-being of my own local community.
